HKL_installer

HKL_installer is a program that assists in the proper installation of the HKL-2000/HKL-3000 program. The version available for the ICSG 2015 workshop permits data indexing, integration, scaling and structure solution with HKL-3000.

The HKL-3000 protein structure solution module depends on external crystallography programs, including:

  • Shelx-97 - version Shelx-97 or Shelx-2015 is required

  • CCP4 v6.5.0 - version 6.3.0, 6.4.0 or 6.5.0 is required

  • Coot 0.8

The optional packages include, but are not limited to:

  • ARP/wARP 7.5 - version 7.4 or 7.5 is required

  • Solve/Resolve 2.13 - version 2.13 is required

The versions of external crystallography programs should be as listed above. These programs have to be installed and configured correctly prior to HKL-3000 installation.

A license key must be obtained prior to HKL-3000 installation according to the instructions sent by email. The license file cr_info should be placed in the /usr/local/lib directory.

HKL_installer Instructions

  • Uncompress the downloaded file.

  • Enter the resulting directory and click on HKL_installer program.

  • On the first page, define the location of the cr_info license file and select HKL-3000.

  • On the next page, confirm the license agreement.

  • On the next page, choose to create a new installation.

  • On the next page, choose where each external program is located. Optionally, the HKL_installer may search for the location of external programs inside a user defined directory.

  • On the next page, define the detectors definitions directory (default is /usr/local/hklint) and base installation directory (default /usr/local/HKL).

  • On the next page, the HKL_installer tests the external programs’ setup and begins the installation process.

  • After installation is done, the last page shows final notes, for example, how to run HKL-3000 from a command line.
